About Us

A Jubilee Ministry is a ministry of joint discipleship in Christ with poor and oppressed people, wherever they are found, to meet basic human needs and to build a just society.

St. Elizabeth’s derives its name from St. Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231 A.D.) who committed her life to serving the poor and the sick. The Center began its ministry in 2001 and was housed in several different locations before finding a home at St. Luke’s Cathedral in 2007. It is a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.

St. Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center is sponsored by eight Episcopal churches in the greater Portland area. We partner with local schools, other faith communities, and local businesses and community groups to serve the people of Portland.
